Spring blooms on the Brandeis University campus, spurring cultural and political events all over campus. The team behind unto its innermost parts attended these events. Life in New England means that winter still lingers in April, but the Brandeis community does not care: the spring time is Brandeis at its best.

Jason Gray elected Student Union President

Our reporters sit down with the newly elected Student Union President and Treasurer. Last month, sophomore Jason Gray defeated junior Justin Kang in a close race for the presidency. Listen here to make sure these politicians will keep their promises. Svetlana Kotlyarenko and Kalynn Cook have the story.

EarthFest

The most environmentally friendly 'fest' of the Spring this year came during Earth Week. The events, altogether dubbed EarthFest, were organized by the most active campus club: Students for Environmental Action. The events included a speech by Massachusetts Representative to the U.S. Congress Ed Markey, a picnic, a clean up of the Charles River, and more. Kalynn Cook was on the scene.

Spring Fest

The strong line up of well known bands had to compete with the unpredictable New England weather. Up and coming band State Radio was the closer of the day. This was not the first time the band performed on the Brandeis campus, two years ago they performed here as well. Alex Kronberger had a couple of minutes with the band. Listen to what they had to say.

Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Arts

A week after SpringFest (this time the weather was nice!) the annual Leonard Bernstein Arts Festival took over the Shapiro Campus Center. Brandeis students showed off their artistic capabilities with paintings, photos and performances. Of course, our reporters were there.

Mike Gravel on campus

Hours of delay, but he showed up, filling the Lown Auditorium until well after midnight.Over the course of the last two years, Brandeis had visits from two former presidents. But it was this semester that the first presidential nominee spoke on campus. This spring, Brandeis invited the first presidential nominee to campus. Mike Gravel – infamous among college students for his YouTube video – addressed a group of Brandeis students. During the talk he focused on his plans for the future. He also criticized the Democratic party and its members. “Maybe if Hillary, Obama and all the other Democrats weren't such pussies, something would get done,” Gravel said during his speech.
Alex Kronberger had an exclusive interview with Gravel. Listen here to what he said.

Students reflect on senior speaker

CNN senior political commentator and Brandeis alum Bill Schneider is this year’s keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony. (Click here to see the official article from The Justice.) He will address approximately 800 seniors and their families, as they leave Brandeis University. But what do seniors actually think about this speaker? Pat Garofalo polled his fellow seniors to see what they thought of this decision.

Wooing high schoolers

Kara Karter asked pre-frosh who visited the campus what they thought of Brandeis. Many high school seniors looking to find the college of their choice visited this year's Spring open house. This was a record year in visitors, drawing more than 1200 people to campus. But what did they think?
